ICAE:- International Council of Adult Education
ICAE stands for International Council for Adult Education. It is an association of individuals who are interested in adult education which is a practice or a form of learning in which adults engage in self-educating activities to gain new skills, attitudes, and knowledge. It was established in 1972 by J Roby Kidd and has its headquarters in Toronto, Ontario. It is governed by an Executive Committee of 9 members who are elected every 4 years at the General Assembly. They aim to promote adult learning as a tool for an individual’s effective participation in a civil society. They promote learning for young people to pursue social justice within the structure of human rights to secure the healthy development of individuals and societies. It is a global network which commits to their passion for the realization of the right to education mainly for peace. It has its associations with UNESCO and a consultative status to the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
