NDF:- National Defense Fund
NDF is the acronym for National Defense Fund which was established in the year 1962 for the promotion of voluntary donations in either cash or in kind to the National Defense and for its effective utilization. It is used for the betterment of the people who are a part of the Armed forces and Paramilitary forces. The funds can be contributed to online through net banking through zero transaction charges. Individuals, trusts, organizations, institutions, companies etc can donate such funds. These donations are exempted from income tax. Members of the executive committee include the Prime Minister, Defense Minister, Home Minister and the Finance Minister. The balance is carried forward each fiscal year. Mir Osman Ali Khan of Hyderabad (India) made the biggest ever contribution by any individual or organization. He made a donation of 5,000 kg of gold in the year 1965 to the National Defence Fund. His contribution still remains unsurpassed till date.
