NSC:- National Security Council

NSC stands for National Security Council. It is an executive government agency which performs the task of advising the Prime Minister’s Office on matters related to national security and strategic interest. The NSC was established on 19 November 1998 by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. Brajesh Mishra is the first National Security Advisor. Before the formation of the NSC, all these activities were overseen by the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister. The NSC is the main body of the three-tiered structure of the national security management system in India where the other two are the Strategic Policy Group and the National Security Advisory Board. Besides the advisor, The Deputy National Security Advisor, The Ministers of Defense, External Affairs, Home, Finance of the Government of India, and the Deputy Chairman of the NITI Aayog are members of the NSC. Ajit Doval is the current National Security Adviser of India. The NSC has its headquarters in Sansad Marg, New Delhi.
