NTPC stands for National Thermal Power Corporation. It is India’s largest power utility with an installed capacity of 52.946 MW. It plans to become a 130 GW company in 14 to 15 years of time. NTPC was established in 1975 and it aims to be the world’s largest and the best power major. The mission of NPTC is to provide sufficient and reliable power with related solutions in an economical, efficient and environmentally friendly manner, driven by innovation and agility. It aspires to be the world’s leading power company, energizing and improving India’s growth. The company has also looked into matters related to oil and gas exploration and mining activities. The government which founded it holds 64.74% of its equity shares. The NPTC was presented with the Maharatna status by the Union Government of India in May 2010 which made it one among the only four companies to achieve the prestigious status.
