TACDE :- Tactics & Aircrafts Development Establishment

TACDE stands for Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment. It is an Indian Air Force unit where the top one percent of the combat fighter pilots are trained in aerial combat. TACDE is based in Gwalior and was conferred the Presidential Status in 2009. The institution has three major functions. TACDE is responsible for evolving tactical procedures for various aircraft, implementing standard operating procedures and training pilots in operational doctrines. It works on similar lines as the Top Gun of US Navy. TACDE was founded by Wing Commander A.K. Mukherjee in 1971. The institution has numerous awards and honors including Vir Chakra and Kirti Chakra. TACDE was also awarded the “Battle Honours” by the President of India in 1995 for its role in the Indo-Pak conflict of 1971. TACDE mainly operates on MIRAGE 2000, SUKHOI SU-30 MKI and MIG 29. TACDE has notable alumni like Pradeep Vasant Naik, Anil Yashwant Tipnis etc.
