UANC:- United African National Council

UANC stands for United African National Council. It was a political party in Zimbabwe formed in 1979 by Bishop Abel Muzorewa. The power was given to UNAC in Zimbabwe during the short-lived power of internal settlement and known as Zimbabwe Rhodesia. The UNAC party was unable to win any parliamentary election from 1985 and 1990 as it was defeated by Robert Mugabe’s Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) Party. The party joined with other opposition parties to form Parties to support Muzorewa in the 1996 presidential election. The Mugabe’s new government focused to redress inequalities of race and class, redistribute land held by the white minority, and promote economic development, with a one-party socialist state as its long-term goal. During this period Zimbabwe faced an economic crisis which leads many Zimbabweans were adversely affected, lacking basic commodities and suffering from food insecurity, fuel shortages, record-high rates of unemployment, and hyperinflation. As the Mugabe was able to look after the country so he resigned from the president post and hence, Mnangagwa was inaugurated as interim president of the country on November 24, 2017, and he pledged to restore Zimbabwe’s devastated economy.
