UNCTC:- United Nations Counter-Terrorism Committee

UNCTC stands for United Nations Counter-Terrorism Committee. UNCTC is a subsidiary body of the UN Security Council. The 15 members UNCTC was established at the same time to monitor the implementation of the resolution. The resolution obliged all the States to criminalize assistance for terrorist activities, deny financial support and safe haven to terrorists. The Security Council created the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) with the aim to revitalize UNCTC’s work. The CTED would provide UNCTC with expert advice on all areas covered by the resolution. At the September 2005 World Summit at UN, the Security Council, adopted Resolution 1624 concerning incitement to commit acts of terrorism. The resolution also stressed the obligation of the countries to comply with international human rights law. The United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre was established in 2011 within the Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force Office in the Department of Political Affairs. It provides capacity-building support for the Member States in implementing the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy. A trust fund was also established to support the implementation of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
