VSSC:- Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre
VSSC is a major space center of India also the backbone of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) which focuses on rockets and space vehicles for India’s Satellite programme. This center is located in Thiruvananthapuram in the state capital of Kerala. Beginning with Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station (TERLS) in 1962. It got its name after Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, often regarded as the father of space program.
The fields generally focused on is layer physics, numerical atmospheric modeling, atmospheric aerosols, atmospheric chemistry, trace gases, atmospheric dynamics, thermospheric-ionospheric physics, planetary sciences, etc. Over the last four decades, we’ve seen VSSC as the leading center for development of launch vehicle technology. As of now it on the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV), the GSLV Mk III and the Reusable Launch Vehicle- Technology Demonstrator (RLV-TD).
